| The
Immaculate Perception Seminar is an enriching and stimulating experience.
You will discover the flexibility of Russian language and how it
has expanded since the influences of Pushkin and Dostoevsky. You
will explore a vital spark of poetry that continues to thrive at
the highest level in Russia. You will have a greater understanding
of the musicality of language through the analysis of form, rhythm,
sound, energy and rhyme. You will learn skills that will improve
your translation and recital of poetry. You will gain insight into
how the composer wrote a soundtrack that compliments and actively
reinforces the spoken word. The central theme of the seminar is
the ground breaking work Immaculate Perception. Inspired by the
poetry of Vitaly Kalpidi the English composer Mark Leventhall has
written "the most engaging and evocative soundscape." (Geoffrey
Smith BBC Film Director). Kalpidi, considered a genius by his contemporaries,
has won top literary awards including the Apollon Grigoriev prize
and the Best Book of the Decade. Immaculate Perception has been
well received across Russia from the International Poetry Festival
in Moscow to the Academy of Science in Novosibirsk. In London, Richard
Mckane from the Pushkin Club said "it was the outstanding event
of my chairmanship." |
